 Kwon Hye-jo is an artist who has a natural flair for capturing familiar scenes or moments in everyday life across various metropolitan cities and those sites on every tourist’s bucket list. Her signature approach which makes her work standout is similar to digging a line as if drawing with a scratch technique as like those seen in engravings. This deeply embedded line is on top of the solid oil painting that lies beneath. This seems to centre the entire artwork. The resultant rhythmic overlap or carefully drawn in line-by-line strength expresses people"s movement and energy. It naturally captures the mood of the times and trends of the present era albeit against the backdrop of a historical monument or landmark. This remains her hallmark.
